Inspired by a trip to Africa, current social movements, and the impending Climate crisis, Africa Eco/Investment began in 2012 when I decided to organize and make an impact. Pretty quickly, I discovered the amazing pool of talent of African Entrepreneurs and innovators. Our Conservation Investment Movement challenges the status quo, holding our leaders accountable and fighting for solutions that will transform African society. Especially for its youth!

WELL DONE Claudia Jensen! We are excited to announce the winner of our Solar Campaign Competition this Friday, 16 August, at 09h00 am South Africa Time (CAT). Through our fundraiser (https://herd.org.za/solar-campaign/), we have raised over R900k for our mission to switch to solar power for a more reliable, stable and sustainable energy source. South Africa is subject to unpredictable power outages due to an unstable national power supplier. We need reliable power for many facets of our work in looking after a herd of elephants, day and night, including crisis management moments when spotlights and radios must be fully charged.

OCN rescuers Antoine and Hawain had to fight against strong waves to retrieve a seal that had almost slipped away. With just a few extra seconds of his time, they removed a piece of fishing line from his neck, before safely returning him to the ocean, his natural and preferred habitat. Seals remain unaware that the ocean, their native environment, has been transformed into a dumping ground by those it sustains the most: fishermen.
